Alas, friends and readers: my 25th birthday has come and gone. I had a lovely day, which included some time to reflect on a variety of things. One of these was my 25th birthday challenge. As with all ambitious undertakings, this was not easily achieved. I was able to complete a significant portion of the things on my list; unfortunately, I was not able to complete it all. Given the short amount of time I gave myself to accomplish these things, as well as the number of major life changes I undertook in the last month of my 24th year, I’d say that I did fairly well. Here’s a list of the 14 tasks I accomplished prior to August 23:
Visit Duluth
Track down a bike
Make a new home in Morris
Get myself to the Como Conservatory early enough to watch a zookeeper feed the sloth
Finish building a capsule closet
Make a five-year plan
Learn to make really good quesadillas
Reread ten of my absolute favorite books
Finish watching the Indiana Jones and Lord of the Rings trilogies
Celebrate my first wedding anniversary
Attend a local summer art fair
Recommit to daily exercise
Meditate
Open a rewards credit card
As I said, there is a sizable chunk of the original list that I just didn’t get around to finishing, but I don’t feel too badly about it. After all, it’s been quite the summer. I may take the remaining items and turn them into a challenge for my next birthday, and I might not. One thing is for sure: even though I didn’t finish my list, I’m still pretty proud of how far I’ve come in the last 25 years, and I look forward to the next 25.
